Hour of the Wolf
Power of the Wolf
Limekiln Records (2006)
Hour of the Wolf are part Motorhead, part Misfits, part Gwar, and part shit. The music is dying to be labeled “balls out!” while the vocals shift back and forth between speedy early 80s hardcore spitting and a half-assed Danzig. The shit part of the band is the fact that you can’t tell whether they are trying to appeal to hipsters who like to name drop early 80s metal bands (you know the ones who traded in their little league tees for vintage Iron Maiden cut-offs) or rockabilly dudes who like tremelo on their solos. In other words irony seems to quite often outweigh sincerity on Power of The Wolf leaving the listener with either a poor joke or a band that needs to get a little originality pumping through their veins.
